Women of the Church are collecting Project Promise School Kits for Lutheran World Relief. Imagine having to choose between a meal or purchasing school supplies. The school kits are sent to places where even the few required school supplies may be more than a family can afford. Pencils and paper can help write a positive future. Even when children can attend school, they often go without the basic supplies. This year Divinity has been collecting school supplies and the Happy Sew & Sews (quilt group) have spent countless hours making 100 plus backpacks to be filled. On a Sunday in September, the congregation will get together after a light lunch to pack the bags. We are still in need of 16 or 24 count boxed crayons (any brand) and small safety scissors. A large box marked “SCHOOL KITS” is in the Narthex awaiting your loving donations. Over 191,000 children around the world say thank you for giving!
Did you know Divinity’s Twiggs-Havel Library is full of books for readers of all ages? Fiction, non-fiction, self-help, devotionals, youth and children’s books are just some of the many books you can find in our church library. What better time to explore and discover hidden treasures in books than during the summer months.
Join the Summer Reading Club by stopping in the library, located across the hall from Pastor Doug’s office and signing up. The forms are located on the desk. Fill out a form and put it in the box labeled SRC (Summer Reading Club).
Our 2019 Vacation Bible School will be June 10 to June 14 from 9 am to Noon. ALL children Age 4 through Grade 6 are welcome! Please tell your family, friends, and neighbors. Plan to join us for a week of fun! Each day, in this Space Adventure, we will reveal part of God’s Miraculous Mission and how Jesus Saves the World and Us! Registration forms are available in the May and June Digest, near the Sunday School Bulletin Board, the Hallway Publicity Posters and in the Church Office. Please register early! There is no fee to attend VBS. To help defray our cost we have set up a Snack Donation Board in the parlor. We are asking the congregation to help us by selecting a Snack Card. Please purchase the item for us and return it to the Snack Donation Container by Sunday, May 26. We thank you so much for your generosity!
