The Youth Ministry of Divinity is committed to nurture, inspire, and equip one-hundred percent of our youth to be faithful life-long disciples of Jesus Christ who reach out to the community, serve with an open heart, and have a willingness to reflect on and discuss God’s teachings.
We have an active and vibrant youth group here at Divinity Lutheran Church. Students who are in grades 9-12 are welcome to join our group.
Serve and Grow
The Divinity Youth Group meets weekly on Sundays during the Sunday School hour, 10-10:50 am. We try to plan monthly activities. Activities include service projects and events, such as helping at the Cleveland Food Bank and the Boys and Girls Club. We also enjoy participating in service projects at Divinity, during clean-up days in the fall and spring, and helping around the church when we are able. We also like to plan several social events during the year, such as visiting a haunted house, or attending lock-ins at the church. Our favorite lock-in is a “Random Acts of Kindness” event, in which we go into the community and partake in acts of kindness around town—holding doors for people, handing out flowers, and positive notes.
Our major event every year is a service trip. We go to a city and help where needed for a week. We have gone to places such as Brooklyn, Chicago, Toronto, Detroit, San Francisco, and Houston. We also participate in fundraising events and efforts to offset the cost of these service trips.
Our youth are characterized by being loving, welcoming, accepting, and fun. Many of our youth are active at Divinity outside of the youth program, volunteering as ushers, readers, and helpers around the building. We are very blessed to have such wonderful young people here at Divinity.
