The Youth Ministry of Divinity is committed to nurture, inspire, and equip one-hundred percent of our youth to be faithful life-long disciples of Jesus Christ who reach out to the community, serve with an open heart, and have a willingness to reflect on and discuss God’s teachings.
We have an active and vibrant youth group here at Divinity Lutheran Church. Students who are in grades 9-12 are welcome to join our group.
Serve and Grow
The Divinity Youth Group meets weekly on Sundays during the Sunday School hour, 10-10:50 am. We try to plan monthly activities. Activities include service projects and events, such as helping at the Cleveland Food Bank and the Boys and Girls Club. We also enjoy participating in service projects at Divinity, during clean-up days in the fall and spring, and helping around the church when we are able. We also like to plan several social events during the year, such as visiting a haunted house, or attending lock-ins at the church. Our favorite lock-in is a “Random Acts of Kindness” event, in which we go into the community and partake in acts of kindness around town—holding doors for people, handing out flowers, and positive notes.
Our major event every year is a service trip. We go to a city and help where needed for a week. We have gone to places such as Brooklyn, Chicago, Toronto, Detroit, San Francisco, and Houston. We also participate in fundraising events and efforts to offset the cost of these service trips.
Our youth are characterized by being loving, welcoming, accepting, and fun. Many of our youth are active at Divinity outside of the youth program, volunteering as ushers, readers, and helpers around the building. We are very blessed to have such wonderful young people here at Divinity.

Youth Mission Trip (Brooklyn, NY)
Jun 16, 2019
Our next mission trip will be in..... BROOKLYN, NY!!!
The dates for the mission trip will be JUNE 16- JUNE 22, 2019.
All of our youth currently in grades 9-12 are invited to come. This is not like the trip we attended this past summer. This is a much smaller set of people (about 50 -- our group plus one or two youth groups from somewhere else in the country) that come together and do God's work in the city we are in. This could include: working with kids groups, spending time with senior citizens in care facilities, working in food pantries and homeless shelters, painting houses, and other jobs that help people.
The cost of this trip is significantly less this year. The total cost of one youth is probably **around** $700, but we will fund raise monies that will greatly offset that cost. Please do not let money be a concern in deciding whether you will attend this trip.
We currently have 14 youth who have committed to be a part of this incredible experience: John Ackerman, Mackenzie Brunecz, Nate Chilia, Sami Chilia, Kyla Ciryak, Will Knoblock, Jennifer Marvin, Megan Mudra, Olivia Neff, Audrey Oas, Annabelle Oas, Sam Roff, James Scanlon and Jerry White.
We are very blessed with active and service-oriented youth here at Divinity!
